Babel Fish

I installed a Babel Fish-tool into this blog today, so now it's possible to read this blog in other languages, too. If the translation is correct, I wouldn't know, but it looks fun:)

So, just scroll down, you'll find the translator on the right side of this blog.

So lovely fishes....I so love those bright colors…very cute…

I think I steel your Babel fish…

I wish there could be a translator to translate Finnish…so funny translations I’ve red…I think it is just impossible to translate Finnish, but it seems to work at least with German and Swedish quite well…and I hope it works also with Spanish and French….at least I’ve already used it several times...:)

Go ahead, Kirsi, and steel!

How do you translate from Finnish? Do you have some programme? Or with dictionary????

I like this bright and colorful school of fish too. It's very "Pop Art-ish" to me. As for translations, you and Kirsi are my translators for Finnish, aren't you? :)

This is an old picture, Mick, about two years old(that's old for me!).

Yes, Kirsi and I are human translators!

Kokeillaan etsiä, Kirsi.

I tried the French translation and understood it, but partly because I speak English and Finnish. It's rather funny. And the fish are nice.

The texts look nice in other languages, although I don't understand a word:)

Interesting! Maybe I should have a try?

Yes, a pity it does not work for Finnish, nor Swedish (at least in my version).

You can of course use it also as some help e.g. when preparing a text or to translate single words: http://babelfish.altavista.com/

The translations by Babelfish are generally a good help to understand the meaning of a text, more or less, but the results are of course far from perfect.

I discovered it already some years ago. The major purpose was to be able to send some short messages in Chinese to some friends. I think this is really the most impressive thing; Chinese is so different as a language in its logic, not mentioning the characters!

Liisa, do try!

Yes, Peter, it's a pity Swedish and Finnish aren't included in Babel Fish. I looked up for a Finnish translator via google, found one ja the translation from Finnish to English was really poor. No use.

But to understand the meaning of a text, that's in many cases enough. At least for me, for example it's possible to understand the texts HPY writes in French, if I use babel Fish.

Chinese and Japanese are very visual languages. Beautiful to look at.
