It Is March

photo manipulations from the exhibition

It is March. But where is spring? It has been -15 degrees Celsius in the mornings (5 degrees in F), we’ve had almost every day a little snow. It feels like mid-winter.

How I have been longing for light and sun! And finally, when the sun came, my head and eyes yelled: NO! TOO MUCH LIGHT! I’ve had migraine. Never, never before. It’s unfair. As you know, my head is all the time a mess enough and now this damn headache!

The exhibition with Johanna is over. I didn’t sell much, so my home is overwhelmed with paintings and photos. I have my work under my bed, in the closets, under the sofa, on the walls, on the shelfs of my bookcases. In a way it is cozy. And looks like a mess.
Goes with my head.

I haven’t been doing any crocheting for a few weeks. Fingers of my left hand are numb, my hand seems to sleep all the time. Luckily I’m right-handed, so I can still paint.

More paintings to hide somewhere….

February

A comment in Mick's blog:

The exhibition I had with my friend in January continues through February. It has been very popular and we were asked to continue for another month. Yesterday we took the sold paintings off the walls and hanged a lot of new paintings. I brought also some paintings, the rest are photo manipulations.
Otherwise, I've been dead tired, doesn't feel so good. My head again, it’s such a mess sometimes.

Art Exhibition In Eastern Helsinki

preparing the exhibition, Johanna's paintings

On Tuesday was the opening of my second exhibition, together with my friend Johanna. She shows her magnificent paintings, mostly mixed art with fabulous colors and texture. I’ve made photo manipulations and the exhibition is called Window to Dream.

something to eat at the opening

It took six hours to get all the paintings and photos up to the walls, but we had a lot of fun doing it. The exhibition place is Culture Place Mellari, situated in eastern Helsinki. The exhibition is opened from Monday to Friday from 10 to 18.

As usual I’ll post gradually those works of mine in my blogs and on my homepages.

Me Seeing The Summer After Having A Few Scotchs

I haven’t been complaining about winter, have you noticed? Of course I have posted photos about Helsinki when it was the snowiest place in Finland.

Then came the rain and now Helsinki is the wettest place in Finland. Don’t you believe? Oh, it’s true. Finland used to be the land of thousands lakes.
Now it is the land of thousands and one lakes.

Walking in slush hig up to your knees is an experience quite soaking. Being car washed with icy mud is said to be good for your complexion, but I’m not quite sure about that. The one who said it must have been dozing on a beach, having some warm, white sand on the face, sipping occasionally cool drinks with ice, lots of ice.

Tomorrow the temperature is going down, down, and you know what that means. One has to have skates to be able to move outdoors.

Maybe I shall stay in and have some scotch.

Neat.

Nail Jewellery

Been painting my nails today.
Snails, lizards and puppy dog tails.
Purple, green and black as sin.
The nails kept dancing, dancing in the wind.

Welcome To The Grand Opening Of Galleria Selätys

Galleria Selätys was opened in November 2009. Lepis invited co-bloggers to join into a project called How to Survive November. In the project, bloggers were to choose a photo of their own, which then was to circle through all the other bloggers who participated the project, each putting one’s own touch to the photo. Thus the original photos were manipulated by many bloggers.

The results of this interactive project are now to be seen at Galleria Selätys.

Welcome!

On the Move

Summer is to be on the move, and while I have been home, I’ve been rewriting some of my old short stories, that have been published in Finnish women’s magazines in the 90’s. My intention is to self publish a collection of these short stories. Why? Because it’s fun. Not to rewrite old stories, that can be a bore, but to publish.

In my Finnish main blog I’ve told about this project, and I asked the readers to come up with a name for the collection, and I’ve got plenty of good titles. I have also been making some cover designs for the collection and I shall set up a vote for the cover I shall use in my collection.

Blogging is interactive indeed.

Because of the rewriting, I haven’t had so much time to post in my blogs. Hey, I do have eight blogs….but, autumn is coming, and there will be those long, dark days and the time to post more again.

Tomorrow I’ll leave for Stockholm for a few days. Meanwhile, here is a photo story I made after staying in the countryside. I’ve published it in my Finnish photo blog and in my Swedish blog, so if it’s familiar to you, that is why.

See you.
