I wish I had more time. More hours in a day. There’s so much I’d like to do, so little time. I have to work, I love to sleep –these two require a lot of my time.
I used to play the piano a lot when I was younger, but nowadays it’s a rare thing for me to do. My time is spent –besides work, everyday life and sleep- in writing, taking pictures, reading and socializing. Some blogging, too. One day I sat by the piano and started to play, and I remembered the joy playing used to bring to me.
Well, to hear the tunes I managed to get out of the piano was not a joy; my fingers are stiff, my skills rusty, but nevertheless, I had a sensation similar to the one a long time ago.
Joy.
I grabbed also the guitar in my enthusiasm, the 12-string. Oh no. Far too difficult, so I took the six-string beauty in my lap and tried to lure some blues out of her.
It was quite awful, and now my fingertips are sore.
I must practise. I really have to. Maybe it means less writing, less picture making. Less blogging.
I believe it’s worth it.

Time deprivation sounds soo-oo familiar (even though I don't work, yelp).
I am positive that it will be worth the effort if you find more time for music. Nothing can lift the spirits better than diving deep into the making of music. I think we co-bloggers will just have to survive with a little less blogging by you. :)
I'll try, it's just that so many things give satisfaction and it's hard to choose!
The principle is as common as it is easy to define: "What must I stop doing if I am to add a new activity?". To choose and to do, there lies the hard part. Too, some of us who blog with the vast volume of imagery and writing that needs to come out and with all of the passion that requires ... well, at some point we must either slow down or burn out. As for me? Both ends of the candle have been burning for a while now. It's clearly the time to start burning it in the middle as well! :)
Aren´t you lucky then? You have no worries that there is nothing to do. Some people have that, I´ve heard, maybe.
Mick, yes it is a matter of choosing. It's just so difficult to choose!
Maybe I'm starting to burn in the middle, too?
Chrome3d, Nothing to do?
I like also that state of mind, if it's voluntary.
Otherwise it seems a little strange.
It's definitely worth the effort and the calluses on your fingers. I'm always thankful that I can express some of the emotions that are too complicated to express in words on my guitar.
There's time for everything, you must just feel what you want to do and choose. Maybe the time for blogging is getting closer to the end, maybe you need a break, and something else to do for some time at least. Whatever you choose, it's your choice alone.
Yes, it's worth the effort, Kenneth. I'll keep on practising.
Writing is such a great part of me, HPY, so I wouldn't vouch on the nearing end of blogging. Maybe less blogging.
It's certainly worth it! ... and with the long autumn and winter coming - you wll have time! One way to forget the (for you) bad seasons?
Maybe not totally forgetting the bad season, mut making it easier. Peter! Hope that!
Hi Susupetal!
No chance; more blogging I would say, as you need to practice... ;))
Did you see Lyliane's pics on Madeira?
I’ll finally get some days off this year; not much, just from Friday night (September 5th) through Monday morning (September 15th). But I don’t leave you empty hands: a beautiful beach and lots of champagne wait for you at Blogtrotter. Enjoy!
Thanks, Gil, for the link to Madeira, I'll check it. Have a nice weekend! I'm off for my champagne!
Dive into that piano and get those finger back in shape. Keep pursuing all that animates you. Don't worry about time. It's around until it isn't anymore.
I've got all the time, scaughtfive, that's true:)
Time is most definitely hard to come by, SuSu. Stealing some time for other creative pursuits is good. Always these various creative parts of ourselves running around like urchins, demanding their 15 minutes in the sun. I too must remember to give in and bring them out from time to time to warm their little faces in the light and make mischief.
You do that, Polydora!
Let's take some time.
hey there, nice to run into your blog. These thoughts mirror what has been a constant mantra of mine:
I wish I had more time. More hours in a day. There’s so much I’d like to do, so little time. I have to work, I love to sleep –these two require a lot of my time.
I found the less I concerned myself with this belief the more time i've found myself having, and i feel more freed up inside.
I love the piano too, it has been an obsession for me in past days, but i don't tinkle much anymore..
..these days it's the 4-stringer, and the six-string acoustic! ;)
all the best to you, ross b
Thanks for your comment, Ross. Yes, time is a funny thing, but luckily there is at least some of it:)
I've been lazy with the piano lately...
